Mauriac Limestone Quarry
The quarry in situated in the commune of Villeneuve d'Aveyron in the lieu dit 'Mauriac', which gives the stone its name.
Stone has been extracted from the quarry since the XIth century and has been used on many of the local buildings in the area. Examples can be seen in the neighbouring villages and towns of Villeneuve, St Rémy and Villefranche etc.
The Stone is a marbled oolithique limestone, which is suitable for all types of construction projects and sculptures.
